The Project Manager is in charge of several special projects and assists with other projects which span both the CLCI Program and the GAL/CASA Program. The Project Manager is in charge of developing, altering, updating, and otherwise bringing all GAL/CASA trainings and curriculum into compliance with both Indiana state and National CASA standards. The Project Manager is also in charge of completing all Indiana State and National CASA certification standards and ensuring compliance. The Project Manager will work with the CEO and other Program Directors in GAL/CASA and CLCI as necessary to implement all standards and on the transition and implementation of the CASA program.
The Project Manager is also in charge of driving research and development of best policies and practices for the GAL/CASA Program. They will research national standards and developing trends, gather information about policies and best practices, and work with GAL/CASA Program Directors, CLCI Program Director, and CEO on implementation. The Project Manager is particularly in charge of all matters related to the Family First Act both on a state and national level. This includes research into all aspects of the Act, plans for implementation and use of Act in the GAL/CASA Program and the CLCI Program, and other Programs if applicable, development of strategies relating to the Act, and all litigation pertaining to the Family First Act.
The Project Manager will be key in coordinating and convening important stakeholders involved in this work. The position will also include ensuring that all programs are focused on being diverse and inclusive, promote equity and justice and give a voice to our community.
Lastly, the Project Manager will have other CLCI and GAL/CASA duties as assigned. This may include handling a small case load; working on various papers and research topics; working on the Deskbook; and other matters as assigned.
The Project Manager is expected to remain current on Indiana law in both family and juvenile law. They must maintain good standing in the Indiana Bar and any other bars where the attorney may be admitted and must have a strong commitment to the ethical practice of law. They must have strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and evince a commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice.
Key responsibilities include: (1) all the duties of a Staff Attorney as applicable; (2) support of GAL/CASA teams, which consist of attorneys, social workers, paralegals, volunteers, and other staff as assigned; (3) assisting with grant and funding compliance; (4) assisting with strategic development for their Program; (5) acting as liaison between executive officers, GAL/CASA staff and stakeholders; (6) managing distribution of new legal information and updates, policy improvement and updates, performing legal research and analysis on key issues and problems when presented; (7) other duties and tasks as needed.
Minimum qualifications include: (1) a J.D. from an accredited institution; (2) bar licensure in Indiana; (3) ability to pass both a state and national background check, as well as any applicable Department of Child Services background checks; (4) Eight years of experience in the areas of family law, juvenile law, child advocacy, or other equivalent areas of child related law; (5) Demonstrable knowledge of the Family First Act, National CASA Standards, Indiana State Standards for GAL/CASA, and the direct representation of children; (6) experience in litigation relating to children and child advocacy; (7) experience in research, policy and program building, and developing strategic programmatic initiatives.
