Position Purpose:    

The Corporate Relations Officer is responsible for a robust portfolio, managing and enhancing relationships with corporations and other business entities to achieve annual fundraising goals. This includes the introduction, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate relationships to generate support for annual operations, capital needs, and other special projects. The Officer is an integral ambassador and collaborative team member who builds corporate relationships through consistent communications and engagement to ensure critical long-term support.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the maintenance and growth of assigned portfolio, focusing on major gifts of $5,000 and above, through relationship management with corporate/community partners. Examples include visits, tours, engagement with volunteer groups, phone calls, emails, events, written proposals, stewardship, and other special contacts such as CEO or Board contact, ensuring touchpoints (communications and actions) are quantifiable and tracked in the Donor Management System.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, Chief Philanthropy Officer, CEO, advancement colleagues, and food bank staff to build holistic relationships and engage corporate partners for long-term growth and to achieve organizational goals.  
  • Develop and coordinate solicitations of major corporate gift prospects that focus on the needs of the organization, tailored to the specific interest and capacity of the corporate partner.
  • Serve as a trusted ambassador of Gleaners to connect corporations who wish to impact our community and neighbors in order to alleviate hunger and provide poverty relief.
  • Perform analysis and benchmarking to evaluate growth and performance in corporate fundraising.
  • Seek corporate sponsorships for annual Wide Women & Shoes fundraising event and work with the other Corporate Relations Officer for the successful implementation of this event.
  • Assist with Feeding America corporate partnerships and cause marketing to ensure maximum participation from our region to benefit Gleaners. Collaborate with Gleaners' marketing and communications staff to maximize impact.
  • Assist with resource development to ensure corporate matching gifts and employee giving programs.
  • Prepare and execute impact reports and other recognition/stewardship materials for corporate philanthropy to convey impact and strengthen partnerships for long-term engagement.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing staff, especially for cause marketing, special events, and corporate engagement, including volunteer groups and in-kind donations.
  • Represent Gleaners Food Bank through corporate and community events as appropriate, providing excellent customer service to constituents. 

Administration

  • Manage budgets within purview of supervisor.
  • Contribute to the major development of the fundraising budget and goals.
  • Ensure appropriate staff informed of events and logistics/needs for the organizational calendar.
  • Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures, including submitting expense reimbursements, credit card reconciliations, invoices, etc. in a timely fashion or by the indicated deadline.
  • Keep Outlook calendar updated to provide transparency on weekly activities and tasks, to promote productive time management and to aid in collaborative engagement with advancement staff.
  • Participate meaningfully in staff meetings, retreats and Board meetings when requested.
  • Provide input for customized gift acknowledgement as appropriate.
  • Manage outside vendors as related to corporate and community engagement. 
    • Coordinate with vendors to provide effective communication, feedback, details, counsel, evaluations, and accountability. Capitalize on vendor and consultant expertise to ensure goals realized.    

Skills/Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities an individual needs in order to perform this job successfully.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising preferred.
  • Understanding of corporate gift solicitation and relationship management. 
  • Working experience with Donor Management Systems.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Valid driver's license/Clean driving record /Must be insurable by company vehicle insurance provider.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communications skills.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with all audiences (volunteers, donors, corporate contacts, staff members, etc.)  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of volunteers, general public, media and staff; an attentive listener.
  • Strong math skills with the ability to analyze data.
  • Coordination and preparation of project budgets.
  • Continuous improvement methodology.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point, Access, and Excel 
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with donor database systems/CRM and online advocacy tools a plus
  • Ability to work a computer, copier, fax machine, telephone, calculator
  • Ability to operate a cell or smart phone for all hours access
  • A self-starter who enjoys dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to think creatively with analytical abilities and identify and resolve problems effectively.

  • Ability to work well, build rapport and make persuasive case for support with diverse constituent groups, both internally and externally.
