Job Summary:

The Director of Marketing and Fundraising is responsible for the overall success of The Patachou Foundation's fundraising program (executing its fundraising plan), external communications, creative direction, donor relations, and events. 

This director also manages our Outreach Coordinator who supports this position with data entry, donor management, and volunteer engagement. This director will also be responsible for content creation staff member and/or intern based on the team they determine.

Annual Fundraising and Donor Management:

  • Meet targeted fundraising goals by managing and calendaring fundraising and cultivation tasks using given strategy and execution of annual prospecting plan
  • Communicate impact of gifts with donors  
  • Create opportunities for donors to continue relationships, donations, and increased financial engagement
  • Execute donor engagement campaigns (establish audiences, story, and goals)

    • Recurring donor/highly involved donor communication
  • Design and execute radically better events for The Patachou Foundation
    • Speakers Forum
    • Farm Fundraising Events
    • Special Events
  • Coordinate and calendar major gift stewardship with key staff, board members, and volunteers

Creative Direction and Social Media Management:

  • Create all marketing, communications, and public relations activities and materials including fundraising campaigns, media relations, and special events 
  • Execute and continue to refine The Patachou Foundation's social media strategy 
  • Design physical and digital collateral for The Patachou Foundation and Foundation Coffee Company
  • Create content for and manage social media for The Patachou Foundation and Foundation Coffee Company (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Yelp)
  • Track metrics, monitor relevant conversations, and report on analytics to improve online engagement
  • Create electronic communications (e.g. quarterly newsletter)
  • Engage with The Patachou Foundation team and clients to create compelling stories of impact 

Communications and Public Relations:

  • Write all copy for communications, fundraising, and specific internal projects
  • Promote earned media opportunities in Indianapolis and national markets 
  • Enhance the public relations presence for The Patachou Foundation
    • Media pitches and relationships with journalists + trade industry groups
    • National press 
    • Speaking opportunities for Foundation leadership and creation of visual narratives for these opportunities
  • Establish national brand relationships for The Patachou Foundation for sponsorship
  • Manage and coordinate The Patachou Foundation Communications and Fundraising calendar
  • Field inquiries, compliments, and complaints in real time from donors, customers, and journalists
  • Coordinate and oversee relevant market research 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills 
  • Proven track record of donor relationship management, sales, marketing and experience with annual funds/capital campaigns preferred
  • Desire to work in a lean, start-up environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in word-processing, mail merge, and spreadsheet software. Familiarity with CRM software (preference given to Salesforce or Bloomerang)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and online content management systems for web and email design is necessary. (A creative portfolio or sample of professional creative work will be requested. Submit to jobs@thepatachoufoundation.org)
  • Strong written and personal communication skills (A sample of fundraising, journalism, or marketing copy writing will be requested. Submit to jobs@thepatachoufoundation.org)
  • Desire to work in a diverse environment that is focused on promoting equity within and outside of our workplace

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of five-year fundraising/development and marketing/sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of standing and being on your feet
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
