Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Real Estate Manager, the Real Estate Manager will assist with all aspects of housing development including all activities that lead to the purchase, sale, and/or development of real estate.

Evaluation of Performance                                                                                             

Performance will be evaluated based on meeting the specific goals, deadlines, and other quality indicators established for this position; working according to all specifications, policies, and standards established by Renew Indy, working effectively in a team environment, and interacting positively with all clients and employees.

Essential Responsibilities and Key Outcomes                                 

  • Management of all aspects of housing development including all new construction and rehabilitation of homes from predevelopment to disposition 
  • Perform pre-development activities including but not limited to evaluating sites for development and initiating scopes with construction manager 
  • Assist with managing the selection, contracting and oversight of the project team such as architects, builders, surveyors, etc.
  • Assist with -managing and maintain construction budgets related to housing development providing updates not less than bi-weekly to supervisor
  • Responsible for ensuring development projects are completed on time and within the established budget
  • Manage the design and construction efforts, including issuing bid packages, reviewing bids, providing input on the selection of qualified bidders, and providing feedback related to construction in progress for compliance with the scope and schedule
  • Manage and implement a creative outreach plan to build the homebuyer pipeline
  • Utilize project management software fully to ensure Renew Indianapolis staff remain up to date on status of all activities
  • Maintain project files to ensure regulatory and grant compliance, and availability of documents needed for annual financial audit 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors involved in real estate development activities to ensure contract fulfillment and timely completion of projects
  • Attend property showings as needed, including advertising and inspecting Renew owned properties
  • Assist with grant writing by researching, writing, and assisting with the coordination of the grant application processes 
  • Receive and review documents (invoices, etc.) for processing

Experience, education, degrees and licenses                                                                                   

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Associates degree in business administration, building construction management, public affairs, or related field; or
  2. At least one-year experience in real estate development; project management; small business development; or community development operations; and
  3. Experience with federal grant programs 
  4. Experience in grant management Proficiency with Microsoft Suite

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, building construction management, public affairs, or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for degree attainment.
  • Some experience in at least one area: real estate development; project management; small business development; and community development operations
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) 

Position requirements:

  1. Must be available for occasional evening and weekend meetings or events and able to travel daily to local site visits
  2. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
