Reports to:  Executive Director

Goal:  To strengthen and advance the mission of Jameson Camp by identifying, cultivating, stewarding relationships, and soliciting gifts.

 

General Responsibilities:  

The Director of Development serves as the lead fundraising staff member and provides leadership and direction to the Executive Director, and Board of Directors in implementing all fundraising activities required to fund Jameson Camp operations. Exhibits passion, creativity, and energy for drawing donors into our mission.

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, communication, philanthropic studies or related field required, with demonstrated professional development in fundraising. Master's Degree or CFRE preferred. 
  • At least 5 years' experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and staff management, with demonstrated success in meeting goals, specifically in individual solicitation.
  • Considerable knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding 
  • Management of Bloomerang donor database
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Budgeting experience
  • Enthusiasm for mission and knowledge of Camp and its programs. Fundraising experience in a Resident and/or Day Camp preferred.

Objectives:  

  • Achieve resource development goals of Jameson Camp
  • Secure new, renewed or increased funding from individuals and institutions, through face-to-face solicitation, director response, special events, planned giving, and grant proposals
  • Assure accurate and timely gift entry, reporting, and stewardship
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with individual donors, board members, volunteers, funders, and community stakeholders
  • Increase donor communication in quantity and quality; increase public awareness of Jameson Camp mission
  • Identify opportunities for community collaboration and partnership to further Jameson Camp mission

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    • Fundraising – Secure philanthropic support for Jameson Camp mission
      • Refines and implements a plan for single and multi-year development activities; including:
        • Developing a clear, concise, compelling case for support and materials
        • Cultivating new donor relationships including major gifts, individual gifts, and corporate gifts alone or in collaboration with volunteers and/or the Executive Director
        • Managing personal portfolio of donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and activities. Monitoring and motivating the CEO and volunteers so that they complete their calls on a timely basis.
        • Engaging board members in the development process
        • Designing and implementing annual campaign in a timely and cost-effective manner
        • Implementing Camp Fire Donor Gift Club and Match Sticks monthly donor individual gift campaigns
        • Developing a planned giving campaign
        • Oversee successful implementation of special events
        • Ensure foundations are solicited and stewarded through timely application and report submissions
        • Ensuring donor records are accurate and remain updated, and all gifts meet the gift policies
        • Evaluating fundraising activities and identify opportunities to improve results
    • Board development and support  
      • Support annual board giving campaign
      • Train board members to participate in donor cultivation, stewardship and assist with solicitation as appropriate
      • Identify possible new board members, as requested
      • Work closely board development committee to design and implement fundraising plan
      • Attend all board meetings, as requested
    • Management
      • Serve as a member of the Staff Leadership Team
      • Work closely with camp leaders and encourage their participation in development
      • Participate in development, implementation and monitoring of the department budget
