Organization Overview:  

Since 1958, MDFF has continuously provided financial assistance, quality programs and services for the Indiana Muscular Dystrophy community. To the best of our knowledge, MDFF remains to be the only organization in the U.S. that focuses one hundred percent on providing adaptive equipment and direct support services to individuals and family members affected by a neuromuscular disease.  Direct support services includes emotional support, annual social events and other equipment and services so that those with muscular dystrophy may enjoy greater mobility and independence on a daily basis.

Position Duties:  The responsibilities and qualifications for the position include the following:

  • Handle day to day responsibilities


  • Actively participate in board meetings, develop agendas, keep minutes 
  • Manage and significantly expand the current contact database


  • Organize several fundraisers during the year as well as an annual Christmas party for children afflicted with MD and their families and look for additional revenue-generating opportunities
  • Write grant requests and solicit new grants


  • Maintain organization's website


  • Monitor website for new applications for assistance, follow up and see through those we decide to fulfill
  • Expand awareness of MDFF in the MD community


  • Expand marketing and communications
  • Expand awareness of MDFF through use of social media, regular media, etc.



Position Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Organization and leadership skills
  • Nonprofit management experience
  • Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors
  • Great personality in dealing with MD families
  • High level strategic thinking and planning

Self-starter – once acclimated, must be able to run things without much oversight
