United Way of Johnson County is located in Franklin, Indiana, and serves Johnson County residents each year through 17 funded agency partners and 8 direct service programs. United Way of Johnson County is overseen by a volunteer board of directors who ensure that we meet our mission "to organize caring people to identify and meet human needs in our community". United Way of Johnson County is a leader in addressing the human service needs of our community and in many instances takes the lead on implementing programs to address the unmet needs of the Johnson County community.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
United Way of Johnson County is looking for a social work or human services candidate for the No Place to Call Home Program Director position. The Program Director would join an existing team of five United Way of Johnson County staff. The No Place to Call Home program is the only comprehensive homeless assistance program in Johnson County, serving Johnson County residents who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The No Place to Call Home program is a unique, collaborative, outcome-based program focusing on coordinated entry for services, coordinated case management and coordinated financial assistance to provide life changing services for families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Johnson County. The Program Director oversees and is responsible for the continued planning, coordination, implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of the No Place to Call Home program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working with the Executive Director, Impact Director, Implementation Team and UWJC Board of Directors, the Program Director will oversee and implement the No Place to Call Home program in accordance with program guidelines.
Program Director will receive and assess referrals for those hoping to be in the program, schedule and complete program intake with potential participants, and assign participants to a case management provider.
Program Director will ensure all client data is gathered, entered and tracked at all steps in the program, including referral, program entry, on-going services, and at case closure. Program Director will work with case management providers to ensure case notes and requests for financial assistance are properly documented and received in a timely fashion.
The Program Director will be responsible for hosting a biweekly case supervision meeting with case management providers, offering trainings to case management providers on needed topics, and evaluating the effectiveness of the case management providers for the program. The Program Director will maintain Memorandums of Understanding with case management providers and will seek out new providers if it is determined they are needed.
The Program Director will take the lead role program evaluation including ensuring all data is entered into program spreadsheets and databases, evaluating client outcomes, evaluating case management providers, evaluating program criteria, and ensuring that participants evaluations are completed after participants exit the program. Program Director will be responsible for reporting program data to the Implementation Committee, UWJC Board of Directors and other community groups as needed.
The Program Director will also be responsible for overseeing the finances of the program, including understanding and helping to write the annual budget, monitoring monthly cash flow, maintaining monthly accounts receivable and payable, and completing monthly program closeout. The Program Director will be responsible for completing the annual Memorandum of Understanding with the financial assistance fiscal agent processor and ensuring compliance with the MOU. Finally, the Program Director will also be responsible for researching and identifying new grant opportunities, preparing drafts of grants, maintaining reporting data for grants, and completing grant reports.
The Program Director is responsible for reporting to United Way of Johnson County, NPTCH Implementation Team and other committees as assigned.
The Program Director will participate in community groups, workshops, meetings, and
committees deemed appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or other Human Services related field preferred
- Minimum of two years of relevant social service experience for a bachelor's degree candidate.
- Minimum of five years of relevant social service experience for a non-bachelor's degree candidate.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Program champion with visionary leadership which can inspire community partners
- Strong collaborator with a proven ability to implement new programs
- Familiarity with government funding sources preferred, e.g. McKinney-Vento, Continuum of Care (COC), Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work one-on-one and interact with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work with volunteers and accept volunteer input
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and time management skills preferred
- Strong grant writing ability preferred
- Ability to cultivate new and existing partnerships in private, corporate, government, social service, and faith-based sectors to ensure the principles of philanthropy and fund development
- Ability to accept input and direction from Impact Director, Executive Director and the NPTCH Implementation Team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google, simple accounting, databases, e-mail, and Internet
- Program Director will work in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
- Program Director works a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to monitor program activities.
