The Center for At-Risk Elders, Inc. (CARE) is a non-profit, public interest law firm designated as a 501(c) (3) charity by the Internal Revenue Service.  The organization was incorporated in 2010.  Since launching its adult guardianship program in 2013, CARE has served as guardian for more than 600 vulnerable men and women.  Using its client service experience and legal expertise, the organization strives to improve the quality of care and quality of life for elders and others in our community. 

The organization's operations fall generally into four areas:  guardianship advocacy, fiduciary services, legal services, and administration.  A talented, team-oriented staff work closely to advance the organization's mission with strong attention to quality.

The Client Advocate/Administrative Support Services Coordinator is a newly created position designed to provide support to each area. The Client Advocate/Administrative Support Services Coordinator designs and implements efficient processes to ensure the teams work in synchrony.

The ideal candidate will have the following credentials and qualities 

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Respected by peers for a strong work ethic.
  • Competent with Windows or similar operating system and Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, appropriate treatment for adults with physical, developmental, mental disabilities, particularly dementia.

The successful Client Advocate/Administrative Support Services Coordinator has the following responsibilities:

Guardianship Advocacy

  • Triage telephone calls, accurately documenting information, responding if possible, and distributing messages to support the team.
  • Scan new referrals onto server, and set up new case file.
  • Support Client Advocates by completing client information requests, scanning and distributing documents, as appropriate.
  • Provide other support to the Director of Guardianship Programs and Client Advocates, as requested.

Fiduciary Services

  • Triage telephone calls, accurately documenting information, responding if possible, and distributing messages to support the team.
  • Support Fiduciary Associates by completing client information requests, scanning and distributing documents, as appropriate.
  • Triage mail including filing of invoices, reviewing and scanning notices, and distributing to appropriate staff.

Legal Services

  • E-file pleadings and other legal documents.
  • Coordinate client participation in guardianship hearings.
  • Obtain documents needed for court filings.

Administration

  • Work with the Deputy Director in the implementation and monitoring of the organization's risk management plan.
  • Assist the Deputy Director in other tasks as necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide support to members of the Board of Directors, as appropriate.
  • Maintain a work environment that is welcoming and equipment that is functional.

General

  • Provide support to other projects such as special events.
