Member Relations Liaison at Indiana State Medical Association

The Indiana State Medical Association, a non-profit physician membership association, is adding another Member Relations Liaison to our team of professionals dedicated to advocating for and supporting physicians in Indiana. This role is part outreach, part service, some marketing and all about building relationships with physicians and healthcare decision-makers to retain members and recruit new ones.

The Member Relations Liaison will serve as one of the primary external contacts between ISMA and current or potential physician members in Indiana. This position will be a key member of the ISMA team working to retain our 9,500 current members and add new members through data-driven recruitment activities in collaboration with other Membership, Communications, Education, Government Relations and Physician Services staff.

Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in business, healthcare or professional membership business development, sales or service.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate well with others.
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and work in iMIS membership database system.
• Licensed driver.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate with and relate to physicians in all stages of their careers, including those in senior leadership roles and those still in medical school.
Flexibility to travel throughout Indiana for 8 to 10 out-of-office days per month, primarily as day trips but including limited overnight stays to efficiently see multiple members/recruits during planned trips to more distant districts. An ISMA vehicle is provided for most travel.
Ability to work independently and without direct daily supervision once trained in ISMA services, outreach plans and membership retention and recruitment strategies.
Ability to successfully increase the number of new members joining and current members renewing with ISMA each year through planned contacts and member customer service efforts.
Support the ISMA staff and management through feedback to the ISMA leadership and general membership regarding member, practice and health system business intelligence.
Willingness to remain unbiased in political viewpoints and personal preferences while on ISMA business and in the performance of duties while also supporting the policy, plans and projects assigned and implemented.
