In partnership with IU Health leadership and working as a representative of IU Health Foundation, the Development Officer will develop and execute donor-centric major gift strategies and will personally qualify, cultivate and solicit major gifts ($10,000 and up) in support of the organizational fundraising priorities and other identified initiatives. Philanthropic support may come from individuals, corporations or private foundations. 

The Development Officer will implement strategic solicitation plans that incorporate our donor engagement process and individual metrics in line with IU Health priorities and goals, including substantial projects that will change the face of healthcare in our state

The position will serve as a development liaison to one or more clinical programs and departments including community health, population health and behavioral health and focus work in the Indianapolis metro area and hospitals within the Adult Academic Health Center (Indianapolis). This position will serve on the Indianapolis Metro fundraising team and report to the Vice President, Campaigns & Philanthropy. 

Duties and responsibilities include managing a portfolio of approximately 100-125 major gift prospects and donors, soliciting gifts at the major gift level through meetings, calls and correspondence in order to obtain and/or increase donor contributions for IU Health Foundation and identifying new prospects for cultivation. Responsible for recording metrics for accountability and evaluation utilizing Raiser's Edge NXT donor database.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required in philanthropy or business development
  • Working knowledge of fundraising software or CRM software
  • Proficiency in MS office required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment preferred.
